Join the Mission!

You can be an important part of our work by donating or selling property to HLB to help provide affordable homes, community amenities, new job centers, urban agriculture and protection against flooding. We're always looking for property that will help us fulfil our goals of strengthening Houston's neighborhoods and creating more affordable homes for Houstonians. If you have property in Houston that you think we can use, please let us know by clicking here and completing our form - we're open to buying the right property at the right price in the right location, and we welcome donations of land that will help us create more affordable homes and supportive community development for Houstonians.

Our focus areas are traditionally underserved neighborhoods. In many of these communities, desirability and proximity, leading to gentrification, is making homes harder to afford for low- and moderate-income buyers. Meanwhile, rising property values can drive tax bills higher, making it difficult for long-time residents to remain in their homes. We look for properties that are vacant, abandoned, damaged, or have other challenges that can hinder their development and be detrimental to the community's quality of life.

I love the idea that my doors and hallways are wide enough for my wheelchair and when my friends with disabilities come over.
